Registration Deadline Friday!

You will notice something about our entry deadlines; most of the time they are on Friday. We are doing this in an effort to promote deadlines more efficiently, prevent late registrations, and to develop successful programs.

Most dates and times are set, but this schedule is tentative and can change. For changes and to catch up on all of the youth, adult, and other programs offered by the Russell Recreation Commission, look in the Russell County News or listen to KRSL radio or their website newsletter for the latest information.

  • Tumbling

     

    TUMBLING
    Kim Gadwood is the instructor!

    Sessions are held Wednesdays and Thursdays at the Rec. Center!
    Dates: June 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22, 28, 29

    Big & Little
    (ages 2 through 4 with a parent)

    9:00 to 9:45 a.m.

    Introduces donkey kicks, forward and backward rolls, table top, tuck jumps along with other basic skills.

    Beginner
    (ages 5 and up)

    10:00 to 10:45 a.m.

    Will concentrate on forward and backward rolls, handstands, cartwheels, round-offs, bridge kick-overs, front and back walkovers and starter drills for back handsprings.

     

    FEE: $5.00 per session

    ages 11 & up - 3:00 to 4:30 p.m.

    All sessions are held at the Rec. Center.

    FEE: $5.00 per person per session

  • Tennis

     

    TENNIS CLINIC
    Bailey Dollison will be coaching the summer tennis clinic! She has multiple years of experience and is excited to offer these classes. Basic skills such as forehand, backhand, and serving will be taught!

    Grades 3rd through 5th
    8:30 to 9:30 a.m.

    Grades 6th through 8th
    9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

    Grades 9th through 12th
    10:30 a.m. to 12 noon

    FEE: $25.00 per person
    (limit of 15 participants per age group)

    This league is a machine pitch league played on Mondays and Thursdays. Score will be kept.

    Players begin pitching in this league and learn to lead off with a strong competitive atmosphere. This leagues plays on Wednesdays. Area towns may also be playing but this league does not travel.

  • Tae Kwon Do

     

    Tae Kwon Do

    The instructors are Sandi Stricker and Bobbi Jo Radke. Sandi has been in Tae Kwon Do for 20 years and has been an instructor for 10 years. Bobbi  Jo has been assisting Sandi for a year and a half and is enrolled in the instructor training program.

    Sessions are held on Tuesdays!
    This session will begin on April 4th and end on May 23rd!

    Tae Kwon Do Tigers
    (ages 3 to 6 years)
    6:00 to 6:30 p.m.

    Tae Kwon Do Tigers-Advanced
    (ages 3 to 6 years that took class last spring)
    6:30 to 7:00 p.m.

    Tae Kwon Do
    (ages 7 years and up)
    6:45 to 7:45 p.m.

    FEE:
    $5 per week or $30 per 8 week session
    (walk ins welcome but class size is limited)

     

     

     

  • Cooking

     

    Becky Anschutz is the instructor.

    ages 3 & up are welcome

    All sessions are held at the Rec. Center.

  • Open Archery

    These sessions are held the first Wednesday
    of the month and there is no fee.

    Next Session: Wednesday, April 5th, 2017
    1:30 to 3:00 pm @ the Rec. Center

    Open archery is for anyone that has taken the Archery in the Schools clinic through Russell Rec.

  • Open Gym

    Open Gym is for ANYONE (you do not have to be a member) ages 9 & up.

    The gym is supervised on Sundays by Lizzy Rhodes from 2 pm. to 5 pm.

    There is no charge for open gym.

     

  • Scholarships

    SCHOLARSHIPS AVAILABLE!!

    A program for scholarship assistance is available through the Russell Area Youth Activities Fund. It is their mission to provide funding that allows youth the opportunity to participate in all Russell Recreation programs. Paper forms are no longer available. If you would like to apply for a scholarship you will need to apply online at www.rcacf.net 
    All scholarships must be submitted by the registration deadline of each activity.
