Registration Deadline Friday!

You will notice something about our entry deadlines; most of the time they are on Friday. We are doing this in an effort to promote deadlines more efficiently, prevent late registrations, and to develop successful programs.

Most dates and times are set, but this schedule is tentative and can change. For changes and to catch up on all of the youth, adult, and other programs offered by the Russell Recreation Commission, look in the Russell County News or listen to KRSL radio or their website newsletter for the latest information.

  • Indoor Cycling

    Tuesdays & Thursdays at 8 am
    with certified spinning instructor Brenda Axman.

    Wednesday at 6:00 pm
    with certified spinning instructor Kim Gadwood
    This class is suspended.

    FEE: $5 per class for non members and members that have not
    purchased the *fitness package

    *fitness package is $40 per person per month for members
    (this is for unlimited use for any and all fitness classes)

    Indoor cycling, as an organized activity, is a form of exercise with classes focusing on endurance, strength, intervals, high intensity and recovery, that involve using a special stationary exercise bicycle with a weighted flywheel in a classroom setting. Using the stationary bikes makes it easy for you to participate in the class but at your own pace. With positive energy from your instructor, this form of workout is designed to tone your muscles, burn calories, and is good exercise for your heart.

     

     

  • Fitness with Kim

     

    Kim Gadwood is a certified personal trainer through American College of Sports Medicine. She has a Master's Degree in Exercise Science. She has participated in college sports and is helping coach at Russell High School.

    TESTING ASSESSMENT
    Testing includes muscular strength, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, body composition,
    blood pressure, and flexibility.
    FEE: $10

     

     

  • Zumba

    Join Megan Koetkemeyer, certified Zumba instructor, for a fun and effective workout that combines Latin and international music!

    Mondays & Thursdays
     6:00 p.m. @ the Rec. Center

    Aqua Zumba
    Mondays @ 8:00 p.m. and Wednesdays @ 7:30 p.m.

  • Walk Fit

    Join Tina Lamar and walk away the weight! This class involves mostly walking with low impact aerobic exercises and some kick boxing. It will help you lose weight, lower your blood pressure, ease stress, help you sleep, and your heart will get stronger!

    This fitness class is for ANYONE! ALL AGES are welcome!

    Tuesdays @ 6:00 p.m. & Thursdays @ 7:00 p.m.

    All classes are held at the Rec. Center.

  • Tae Kwon Do

     

    Tae Kwon Do

    The instructors are Sandi Stricker and Bobbi Jo Radke. Sandi has been in Tae Kwon Do for 20 years and has been an instructor for 10 years. Bobbi  Jo has been assisting Sandi for a year and a half and is enrolled in the instructor training program.

    Classes are held on Tuesdays!
    This session will begin on April 4th and end on May 23rd!

    Tae Kwon Do Tigers
    (ages 3 to 6 years)
    6:00 to 6:30 p.m.

    Tae Kwon Do Tigers-Advanced
    (ages 3 to 6 years that took class last spring)
    6:30 to 7:00 p.m.

    Tae Kwon Do
    (ages 7 years and up)
    6:45 to 7:45 p.m.

    FEE:
    $5 per week or $30 per 8 week session
    (walk ins welcome but class size is limited)

     

     

  • Open Gym

    Open Gym is for ANYONE (you do not have to be a member) ages 9 & up.

    The gym is supervised on Sundays by Lizzy Rhodes from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

    There is no charge for open gym.

    This program runs from October through March.

     

  • Open Archery

    These sessions are held the first Wednesday of the month and there is no fee.

    Next Session: Wednesday, April 5th, 2017
    1:30 to 3:00 pm @ the Rec. Center

    Open archery is for anyone that has taken the archery clinic through Russell Rec.

     

  • Instructors Needed

    We want to bring in many new programs through the RRC and I need your help.
    Anyone interested in teaching any projects to the community such as sewing classes, painting, drawing, etc
    or if you have a talent or hobby and want to share it
